One of my favourite things about being a homeschooling family is the flexibility in our schedules. I love that we can hop in the van every week with my husband and attend Jummah prayer with the kids. Our local masjid has a nice children’s room but sometimes it is not always available for the kids to play in. It’s been on my to-do list for quite some time and we finally got around to creating our own tote bags for the masjid.
They are perfect for hanging on the coat rack by the door and grabbing and going when we are in a rush. Inside the totes we’ve included a fun sketchbook, crayons, stickers, and the girls hijabs. I’m thinking of changing it up every now and then and including some busy bag activities for the kids. Let me know if you’d like to see the busy bags we use!
Now on to the fun part!
DIY Masjid Tote Bag for Kids
- Tote Bag
- Fabric Paint
- Insert paper into the tote bag to protect the bottom layer in case the paint bleeds through the front layer.
- Draw out your design with chalk, or if you’re more adventurous, free hand your design directly with the paint.
- Allow to dry completely, and remove paper.
- Fill with goodies, activities, your children’s prayer garments, a Quran, picture books, busy bags, anything you’d like!
Have fun! I’d love to see the tote bags you create, and please share your ideas of what you’ll be putting inside them in the comments below!
