Bismillah, Assalamu Alaikum & Hello

Our first day of Junior Kindergarten starts tomorrow!! I’ve been hemming and hawing about whether or not to homeschool my daughter or put her in school. On one side I see the advantage of homeschooling since you are able to create a curriculum that suits your child and your values, and you are able to give your child undivided attention. But on the other side, I see the benefit of my daughter being surrounded by and learning from other children since she is an only child at home. So after praying istikhara I’ve decided to enroll my daughter into an Islamic school! Big new right? Well, the other big news is that I will be the Junior Kindergarten homeroom teacher, Alhumdulillah :).

I’m am really excited and a little bit nervous as we embark on this new journey. I have been setting up the classroom this entire week and I can’t wait to show it to you! For our first week of school we will mainly focus on establishing routines and learning names. I hope I will be able to share some of the activities we do in class but since everything is new to me I may not find the time to blog in the beginning. Tomorrow A and I will meet the other 24 students inshaAllah 🙂 I will try and pop in tomorrow to show you our classroom setup and let you know how our first day of school went!

And I agree with Polly- how you still will be her teacher and have control over what she is learning- indeed that is good news! Especially since this will be her first time 🙂
