The girls in my garment construction sewing class are really cruising along. They have progressed so much in their sewing ability since the first time they came to me. I can now leave them to work on the machine independently, if I need to iron something or help another student, I know that they can work through little snags on their own should they get stuck. Their most recent project was tiered skirts! They chose out which fabrics they wanted to use in their designs, took their measurements, and mapped out their custom tiered skirt made to their unique measurements. It was a lot of work, but the girls were able to pick up new skills such as hemming, basting, gathering, and adding an elastic waist band. Next on the list- pajama pants!
